BP is planning to resume its operations at the Buncefield oil depot next year following last December’s massive fire.
Spokesperson Sheila Williams said the company was currently working on site to empty fuel tanks and examine them for damage. The BP part of the terminal was furthest from the blaze.
Any operations would be at a much reduced level prior to the fire, said Williams. The emphasis would be on resuming the supply of jet fuel to Heathrow through an underground pipeline, but would also include some distribution of road fuels.
