Retailers have been given an extra three months to fight the tobacco display ban. MPs were expected to vote on the

proposals last month but they were not included in the parliamentary timetable. The vote is now due to take place after the summer recess on October 12.

The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) urged retailers to use the extra time to contact their local MP and said it would continue its own campaign against the ban.
