Robbers blew up an ATM on an Esso forecourt in Bedminster, Bristol in the early hours of Thursday morning, leaving bank notes scattered on the ground.

According to the Western Daily Press, “the blast fired the machine’s front panel about five metres forward, allowing the cash to fly out”. And the money couldn’t be collected up until police had searched the area for evidence. It is not known how much money the thieves got away with.

Press reports speculate that the ATM was also blown up last year, but Avon and Somerset police are not saying whether the two crimes are linked.
