Great Gas Petroleum (Ireland) Ltd, the Irish-owned fuel supplier, has signed a five year contract worth more than €30

million to open the company’s landmark 50th fully branded GreatGas forecourt.

The company said the 24-hour site would open on Parnell Road in Harold’s Cross, Dublin, and would include a GreatGas retail outlet. It is the third GreatGas forecourt to open in Dublin in the past year. GreatGas Grange Castle in Clondalkin began operating in early 2010 while ‘GreatGas 24/7’, Ireland’s first ever completely unmanned and automated self service filling station on the Old Airport Road in Santry, Dublin, opened last summer.

GreatGas, which was founded in 2005, has experienced rapid nationwide expansion since its launch in 2006. As well as supplying 50 fully branded GreatGas outlets, it also supplies fuel to a further 30 independent forecourts around the country.

The company said it had invested €2million in the rollout of the 50 sites in Ireland, 15 of which opened in the past year, and the company plans to invest a further €1million over the next 12 months in branding and on-site developments.

Ray O’ Sullivan, managing director of GreatGas, said: "Since our establishment in 2006 we have grown substantially and now have GreatGas forecourts in each of the four provinces. GreatGas is growing so quickly that forecourt owners have noticed us and are now seeking us out. Our turnover for the past year was approximately €90 million and we expect this to increase by 30% this year. We are also on track to add a further 20 to 30 outlets to our network over the next three years if current growth rates are maintained.”

GreatGas is operated by Great Gas Petroleum (Ireland) Ltd, with headquarters located in Churchtown, Co Cork, and is part of the DCC Plc group.
