First eco site for NI
Minister of the Environment Edwin Poots officially opened the new eco-friendly Spar forecourt in Lagan Valley the first of its kind in Northern Ireland. Located on the Hillsborough Road, the knock-down rebuild development introduced several eco-friendly solutions that lowers the store’s carbon footprint and protects the environment.
Gulf sponsors bike race
Gulf has announced its title sponsorship of Ian King’s extreme power challenger for the 2011 FIM UEM European Top Fuel Bike Championship.
Normally associated with sports cars, Gulf’s blue and orange racing colours will now adorn a drag bike which from a standing start can outpace any Formula One car or an F15 jet fighter plane.
Fuel efficient oil
A collaboration between research teams at Shell and Gordon Murray Design (GMD) has led to the development of an innovative concept engine lubricant, which is said to be capable of achieving a 6.5% improvement in fuel efficiency. Using GMD’s new T.25 city car as the test bed, Shell engineers have been able to work beyond current industry specifications to formulate an ultra-low viscosity 0W-10 motor oil.
Revamp for Tebay
Project management and design practice the Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP) has sealed a second contract with service station group Westmorland Limited.
FWP has been appointed by the family-run firm to deliver the next phase of improvement works at its flagship Tebay North services in Cumbria.
Christmas scheme
PayPoint retailers are now able to compete with the major supermarket groups for their customers’ Christmas savings. Almost 4,000 PayPoint retailers have already signed up.
