Jet has been chosen as the fuel supplier for a new Co-operative forecourt and food store that opened on 3 December in Earlston in the Scottish Borders.
The 3,700sq ft convenience store and 16 nozzle Jet filling station replaces the Co-operative food’s former outlet in the town. The site, which was previously a car showroom, has undergone a £400,000 refurbishment over recent months.
The new premises offer hot food, and Costa coffee, Paypoint and lottery as well as an in-store bakery range, and a focus on fresh food, meal ideas and essentials. Eight new jobs have been created at the site.
Sandra Todd, manager of the new Co-op store, said: “We’re thrilled to have made such a significant investment in Earlston. We now have a fantastic new forecourt and food store with which to serve the community – it is an exciting time for the whole team.”
Paul Yates, Jet’s territory manager for Scotland, commented: “The Jet-branded Co-op Earlston is the seventh new site to join the Scottish network this year and we’re delighted to have been chosen as the fuel supplier by the Co-op. We’re confident that Sandra and her team will make a great success of the site and that both the store and forecourt will be well received by the local community and by the many tourists that visit the area throughout the year.”
Sandra added: “The Co-operative is a community retailer, and we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit. As such, the site will be the first Co-op site to introduce a new role, known as a Community Pioneer, where a member of the food store team will work to foster involvement in community activities, from local fundraising initiatives to helping to understand and develop solutions to meet community needs.”
