New initiatives designed to showcase best-in-class retailing practice will feature alongside traditional favourites at Palmer and Harvey’s Pro-Retail 2011 show.

The future of retail, new food-to-go concepts, and the popular category zones, will all feature at the packed show alongside appearances from Mary Portas, the straight-talking star of makeover TV and champion of independent retail.

Pro-Retail 2011 will provide insight into what’s coming up for independent retailers beyond the downturn, as well as looking at how retailers will respond to the ever-changing needs of their customers and how innovation is changing the ways shops are managed.

P&H’s symbol offer Mace will also appear at Pro-Retail with visitors able to see and sample at first hand the Mace food-to-go concept that is currently rolling out nationwide. They will be able to hear directly from Mace retailers on how they’ve grown their businesses.

Help and advice will be on hand from leading industry experts and P&H’s own buyers and marketing managers at this year’s category zones, which will focus on chilled foods and alcohol, the fastest growing convenience categories in the UK.

Richard Hayhoe, P&H marketing director, said: “We know it’s a commitment for retailers to take time out from the shop floor and we’re keen to add as much value as we can to the show floor for Pro-Retail visitors. Pro-Retail is a great chance to meet suppliers and network with other retailers, and our initiatives have been planned to complement this by delivering insight and learning on product and consumer trends that visitors can take back and implement in their businesses.”

Pro-Retail takes place on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 May 2011 at the International Centre in Telford, Shropshire.
