Forecourt giant MFG has been granted planning permission to add a new food court to a filling station in Lanark, Scotland.
The firm will turn a portion of the site’s existing sales building, which is currently used as a hand car wash, into a 1,076sq ft food-to-go outlet complete with seating for 31 people.
While MFG has yet to decide what brand it will install at the new outlet, Pret a Manger, Greggs, Burger King, Wrights Bakery, Subway and Miss Millie’s Chicken are all being considered. The firm will also add three new jet wash bays and additional parking to the site.
Eight residents had objected to the proposals, with concerns including increased noise and light pollution, and worsened traffic safety.
South Lanarkshire Council found MFG’s application to be in keeping with planning policy, however, and granted the firm permission for the project – albeit with a condition that the jet washes can only operate between 10am and 4pm on Sundays, and from 8am to 8pm during the rest of the week.
