New hub features six chargers serving 12 bays

Gridserve has opened a new EV charging hub at Roadchef’s Folkstone Services on the M20, with 12 ultra-rapid bays capable of delivering electricity at up to 360kW.

The new facility, dubbed a ‘super hub’ by Gridserve, will provide a useful stop-off point for EV drivers on their way to Folkstone’s Channel Tunnel terminal, while its construction is the fruit of a longstanding relationship between the chargepoint operator and the motorway-services firm.

Daniel Kunkel, Gridserve’s chief executive, commented: “Perfectly positioned near the Channel Tunnel, this hub serves as both a final stop for UK motorists heading into Europe and a welcoming first charge for drivers arriving from France.”

Walt Antrim, Roadchef’s head of EV implementation at Roadchef added: “By expanding charging capacity here, we’re helping ensure drivers have access to fast, dependable charging at a key gateway, supporting the continued growth of electric vehicle travel.”
