BP is trialling the UK’s first Ceccato Pegasus car wash at a flagship site in Oxford.
Supplied by Car Wash UK, the Italian manufacturer’s sole UK agent, the new machine has been installed at BP’s Woodstock Road site.
Shaking hands on the deal, Karl Meakins, (pictured right) project manager at Global Alliance, which provides build and maintenance engineering for BP’s retail outlets, said: "The new Ceccato machine is of great interest to us as this is a very busy site. We decided to install the Pegasus as it is a high-volume, automated machine that will wash and dry a vehicle in just four minutes."
The site often washes more than 300 vehicles a week and previously had a conveyor-style car wash.
Colin Russell, Car Wash UK’s new head of sales and marketing (pictured left), said: "We are delighted that BP has chosen the new Ceccato Pegasus for this site, and we hope it will be the first of many."
The compact machine is said to be attracting interest from other retailers .
New innovations include a patented traffic light system; side dryer system with four low-noise air blowers; and top and sides pre-foam for improved cleansing. It also features in-built, under-chassis, wheel and Robowash systems and a contour-following top brush for cleaning around delicate roof spoilers.
It costs from £30,000, depending on extra features.
