A major UK forecourt food operator has just installed the Clean Hands system as part of a drive to focus on improved food handling procedures and as a cost-saving and environmental initiative.
The system is an established brand standard for each of the 480 deli, food-to-go outlets providing servers with a quick, simple and hygienic way to serve food, and prevents cross-contamination when handling food and money over a counter.
The Clean Hands system has been introduced to serve hot dogs and baked goods as an alternative to disposable latex gloves and tongs which may cause product breakage and have both cost and environmental implications.
It features a magnetic wristband that retains the slip-on glove on its docking station and keeps it open ready for use. The server simply inserts their hand into the waiting glove to use it and then slips it out after returning the glove to its base ready to be used when it is needed again.
This means their hands are free to handle money, and the cash never comes into contact with the glove.
As well as preventing cross contamination, servers will use just a few gloves per day rather than a new glove for each time they serve a customer, saving both time and money as well as being more environmentally friendly than latex or vinyl gloves.
