Gareth Payne has left independent fuels and lubricants supplier Certas Energy, where he was head of HSE & engineering – roadside services.
During his most recent two-year tenure he oversaw the introduction of body cameras at more than 40 company-owned sites.
This was part of a programme of “zero harm in the workplace” initiatives to protect retail staff, including an in-store poster campaign urging customers to be “positive” to employees.
Payne had worked as a consultant for Certas Energy from early 2015 until mid-2020 when he joined the business full-time. In November 2022 he became head of HSE of the roadside services team, before taking on his most recent role in October 2023.
A graduate in biomolecular science, he previously held public and private sector environmental roles specialising in contaminated land, waste, and emergency response.
