Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will take place next Monday September 19, which has been declared a Bank Holiday by King Charles III.
Forecourt Trader publisher William Reed also issued the following statement: ”William Reed is deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty the Queen. In a long and glorious reign, the Queen lived a life of extraordinary public service, and her wholehearted support for UK business was a particular feature, most notably through the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, but also through her countless visits to open factories and supermarkets, as well as her passionate support for related charities. The Queen touched the lives of many people in the food and drink industry and we are truly grateful for the devotion she has shown to the country and the Commonwealth.
We send our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family, and wish health, happiness and longevity to the Queen’s heir: King Charles III.”
Meanwhile, the government has issued guidance for businesses for the State Funeral on Bank Holiday Monday September 19 here.
It advises that whether staff take the day off is a matter for discussion between individuals and their employer. There is no statutory entitlement to time off for bank holidays, but employers may include bank holidays as part of a worker’s leave entitlement.
The government cannot interfere in existing contractual arrangements between employers and workers, however, it expects that many workers will be able to take the day off on the bank holiday. It also expects employers to respond sensitively to requests from workers who wish to take the day of the funeral off work.
