Morrisons has appointed Maz Ahmed managing director, convenience & wholesale in its drive to add hundreds more Morrisons Daily franchise sites “in the years ahead”.
With more than 18 years of experience with the supermarket group, Ahmed has a brief to grow the convenience side of the business, reporting to chief executive Rami Baitiéh.
Having joined Morrisons in 2008, he spent most of his career in commercial finance roles, most recently as group commercial finance director.
Before that he spent three years as operations director at Myton, the group’s food manufacturing business, where he had operational responsibility for the produce and horticulture arms.
Rami Baitiéh says that Ahmed has “demonstrated strong leadership skills” in his previous roles, and that he is already bringing “new focus and drive” to the convenience business.
