Petroassist UK clients include MFG, BP, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco

Portuguese fuel equipment supplier Petrotec has boosted its UK presence with the acquisition of forecourt contractor Premier Forecourts & Construction.

Petrotec – which already has a UK subsidiary, Petroassist UK, servicing clients including MFG, BP, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco – says the purchase of the British company will add capabilities such as civil engineering, electrical installation, and “end-to-end project management” to its portfolio.

The group, whose products include fuel pumps and electrical charging stations, says the purchase of Swansea-based Premier will enable it to “take on larger and more complex contracts and act as a single integrated supplier or one-stop shop”.

Petrotec adds that the takeover, which will create a £38 million-turnover UK operation with more than 200 employees, “represents a fundamental strategic step” in consolidating its “industrial and service footprint in one of the most demanding and highly regulated markets in Europe”.

Petrotec says Premier will “retain its operational identity, working in close collaboration with the Petroassist UK structure to ensure a seamless integration”.

The Portuguese company is projecting a consolidated annual growth for its expanded UK business of more than 10% over the next three years.

Guimaraes-headquartered Petrotec was founded in 1983 and claims to be one of the few manufacturers in the world covering “the entire energy mobility value chain – from liquid fuels to electric charging and hydrogen refuelling”.

It has a turnover of more than €100 million (£86 million) and employs in excess of 1,500 staff across nine countries in Europe and southern Africa.
