Independent forecourt firm Arms Group, which operates eight filling stations across the north-west, has reopened its Goose Green site in Wigan, Greater Manchester, following a comprehensive refresh.
The forecourt itself has been treated to four new pumps, refreshed Shell branding and various remedial works, while solar panels have been fitted to the canopy roof – but it’s the store that has received the most significant improvements.
The shop building has been significantly extended and now covers 1,200sq ft – more than double its previous footprint – while LED lighting, electronic shelf-edge labels, plus new fridges, floors and ceilings have been installed.

The shop also now wears a Spar fascia, with Goose Green being Arms Group’s seventh forecourt to benefit from the firm’s relationship with wholesaler and fellow forecourt operator James Hall & Co, a partnership that has been in place for almost two decades.
Reece Patel, director at Arms Group and one of three brothers who run the firm, said his family is “thrilled with the transformation” of the site, adding that “partnering up with James Hall’s IT system means we can utilise the system to the fullest extent.”

Patel detailed that Arms has upgraded two forecourts in Liverpool the last 12 months, while another site, in Wigan, is due to get improvements similar to the ones implemented at Goose Green, bringing the firm’s portfolio entirely under the Spar banner.
Peter Dodding, sales Director at James Hall & Co. Ltd commented: “I am delighted for all at Arms Group after a year of significant investment into their portfolio of sites. The business is also benefiting from better integration with our company through support from store design, IT solutions, and our expert merchandising teams.”
