The big four supermarkets have all announced further price cuts with Asda pledging that from tomorrow (Saturday December 13) its price cap for unleaded petrol will be 112.7ppl and diesel will be capped at 118.7ppl.

Tesco said it was cutting the cost of petrol by 2ppl and the cost of diesel by 1ppl with effect by lunchtime today (Firday December 12).

Peter Cattell, fuel director for Tesco, said: “We’re dropping the cost of petrol by 2ppl and diesel by 1ppl at all of our 500 filling stations. That’s on top of the 6ppl average saving on petrol that Clubcard customers are currently getting thanks to our Fuel Save scheme. That means Clubcard customers visiting friends and family this Christmas can get the lowest price for petrol in the UK.”

Sainsbury’s announced that from tomorrow (December 13) it will be cutting the price of unleaded petrol by 2ppl and diesel by 1ppl, and said it was the fourth time in two weeks that Sainsbury’s has dropped the price of fuel.

Avishai Moor, Sainsbury’s head of fuel, said: “We know that Christmas can be an expensive time of year, that’s why we’re dropping the price of unleaded petrol by 2ppl and diesel by 1ppl at all our petrol stations from tomorrow. This is another way in which we can offer our customers real value for money when they fill up with Sainsbury’s.”

Morrisons also tweeted that it would be cutting a further 2ppl off unleaded petrol and 1ppl off diesel from tomorrow morning.
