Asda has signalled an expansion of its estate of fuel forecourts with a deal to build at least six more this year.

The construction arm of The Premier Group, a national specialist in high-spec construction and maintenance work, began construction of petrol station forecourts for Asda this week, with six sites are planned for construction work this year in various UK locations.

The Premier Group began its first project for Asda in East Retford, Nottinghamshire, where a new build forecourt will be constructed. The company will construct filling stations at Asda superstores across the UK that do not currently have the facility. Many will be built through the conversion of car parking areas of the supermarkets.

An Asda spokesperson commented: “We continually seek to offer our customers the widest range of Asda services and we intend to continue to bring fuel to stores where opportunities arise.”

The Premier Group adds Asda to its portfolio of work with national brands. The company has completed projects for Esso - for its Synergy Fuel Programme rebranding - Shell, BP, Tesco, MRH and Rontec.

Steve Evans, managing director of the construction arm of The Premier Group, said: “Having Asda as another major supermarket to add to our client base is a great achievement for The Premier Group and is testament to the high quality level of service we are able to provide to national brands.

“Our contract with Asda will involve the construction of filling stations across a number of Asda supermarket sites throughout the country, meaning recruitment is a priority for us.

“We hope that through this substantial project, we can build a meaningful relationship with this powerful UK brand, proving that The Premier Group is the go-to company for petrol station and forecourt construction and maintenance needs.”

Premier Group’s construction division specialises in the building, knock-down, re-build, refurbishment and decommissioning of petrol filling stations. Its installation division handles the supply, fitting and commissioning of tanks, pump dispensers and all associated pipework, and its servicing division deals with pump and fuel equipment maintenance.
