A forecourt has re-opened with a new Budgens store in Ashford, Kent, after an investment of more than £2m by local businessman Kanagaratnam Rajamenon.
He took over the site in Willesborough last August, and has invested in new petrol tanks, an extended canopy and extra pumps. Further investment is expected, which will bring the total cost of buying and transforming the site to £2.7m.
Willesborough Service Station also offers charging facilities for electric vehicles, and the point was emphasised with a £106,000 hybrid BMWi8 on hand to welcome guests attending the opening.
Kanagaratnam said: "We have become partners with BP and Budgens, and together we have provided a major new facility for local people. Being the last branded service station before joining the London-bound M20, I am confident this facility will be very popular with the hundreds of thousands of people who use the motorway every year."
