Detectives from West Surrey CID are appealing for information after a member of staff was attacked with a metal pole during a robbery at a petrol station in Windlesham.
It occurred at 9.30pm on Thursday, 16 April, when a member of staff was cleaning the forecourt of the Esso garage on the A30 when a grey or blue Volvo estate in which three men were travelling pulled in.
Two of the occupants, left the car, approached the victim and asked him to open the safe striking him once with a metal pole. They hit him again inside the property when the victim couldn’t open the safe.
The men left in the vehicle with cigarettes and money stolen from behind the counter. The third man, the driver of the vehicle, remained with the car throughout the incident.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to St Peters Hospital in Chertsey for treatment to cuts and bruising suffered during the robbery.
