A Bill requiring fuel receipts to show the amount of duty paid has been given its first reading in the House of Commons.
The changes outlined in the Vehicle Fuel (Publication of Tax Information) Bill, which is promoted by FairFuelUK, would enable motorists to see how much tax they are paying to the Treasury in both fuel duty and VAT every time they buy fuel.
Introducing the Bill, Conservative MP Peter Aldous, said: "This calls for all taxes to be clearly shown on fuel receipts. Its principle is very simple: taxes should be clear to the people who pay them."
