Britain’s biggest forecourt shop has opened at Oxford Services, on junction eight of the M40.
The shop forms part of the busiest filling station in Europe, which is run by motorway service area operator Welcome Break.
The company says that it has spent £750,000 doubling the size of the original forecourt to 1,000sq ft as part of a four-month development project.
Oxford Services forecourt manager Andy James told Forecourt Trader: “We operate the busiest filling station in Europe and now have a forecourt to match.
“The new forecourt has six tills, a large selection of hot and cold food and drink, clothes, CDs, magazines and many other goods.”
Also incorporated into the shop are five showers (free of charge for customers), toilets and baby- changing facilities.
“As a result of the new development we are able to offer our customers an improved level of service as well as more choice and better facilities,” said James, adding that the company’s expectations for the new shop were high.
“Our aim is to make the forecourt the busiest in Europe to complement the filling station’s number one position,” he said.
