Top 50 Indie Brookfield Group has opened Pocklington Services Shell in East Yorkshire after a £2m investment.
The opening was marked by a two-day event with a visit from a Ferrari Formula 1 racing car, giveaways and a wide range of in-store offers.
The service station was officially opened by the chairman of Petrol Retailers’ Association, Brian Madderson, as well as the local mayor, councillor, town crier and representatives from Shell.
The site features a Nisa Local under the Store of the Future format, a Subway, Costa Coffee, Fresh Bake bakery and amenities including a free cash machine and car valeting.
Madderson said: “This is a fantastic site and exemplifies the roadside retail concept. They have developed a new to industry site which has given them space to design and build the optimal size of convenience store with all the facilities and parking in addition to the fuel offer.”
Raj Patel, retail partner, said: “The open day was an outstanding success thanks to the help of the Nisa team who did a fantastic job in a short space of time.
“It was a great way to introduce ourselves to the community and show them what services and fantastic products we have to offer. Crowds of people attended to take advantage of the special open-day offers including free Costa Coffee, the popular face painting and a free Subway when a 99p drink was bought.”
Raj intends to broaden the services even further by summer 2015 by adding a restaurant and coffee drive thru.
