The Brookfield Group has raised more than £11,000 for a children’s charity after three colleagues took part in the gruelling 26.2-mile London Marathon last month.

The Top 50 Indie’s development partner Aziz Patel, along with financial assistant Ismail Patel and student customer sales assistant Yahya Patel, trained for 12 weeks to successfully complete their first marathon in aid of Get Kids Going, which works to provides sport and mobility to disabled children.

Aziz said: “We did a minimum of four training runs a week for 12 weeks varying in distances from 5 miles to 22 miles with the long runs always taking place on a Sunday morning. We used to start running around 6am in the morning while the roads were quiet. It was extremely cold but despite the grueling training programme we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Hopefully we intend to run many more marathons for worthwhile and rewarding causes that make a difference to those in need.”

Aziz wanted to thank all the fellow dealers and forecourt suppliers that donated money. “So many of my colleagues in this business donated money – that’s how we were able to raise so much.”

Ismail added: “Our target was to raise over £7,400 for the Charity. This was only possible with the very kind and generous donations by both local people, friends & families and businesses in both Yorkshire & Nationally especially at a time of austerity. We would like to say a big thank you to all those people who supported us.”
