Police in Scotland are investigating following a burglary at a petrol station near to the Tay Road Bridge.

The Abercraig Shell petrol station on the A92 near to the Forgan roundabout was targeted just before 3am on Thursday January 28 and a three-figure sum of cash was taken. The station was closed when the raid took place.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have seen anything to come forward.

Detective inspector John Anderson, who is based in Levenmouth, said: “We believe the break-in was committed shortly before 3am when the petrol station was closed and the persons responsible have remained in the area for a considerable period of time.

“The area and roads would have been quiet at that time of night and it is possible that members of the public may have noticed persons or a vehicle parked nearby.

“While it may not have seemed suspicious at the time, this may now be important to our investigation.”
