Top 50 Indie the Carsley Group is supporting the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity across its network with a raffle to give away three mountain bikes.
The group, which has a particular affinity with the charity because managing director Mark Carsley has a family member who is a Royal Marine, has raised £1,000 in five weeks from donations for a wristband. Ticket sales for the bike raffle have so far raised £220 and growing daily.
Mark told Forecourt Trader: “I am very proud to have a nephew who serves in the armed forces and the efforts that he and the rest of the military put in is fantastic. When our area manager James Kemp asked if we could support the Help For Heroes charity across the Carsley Group sites it was an absolute no-brainer as I feel this charity is one of the most deserved in the UK.
“The work they do to help rehabilitate and tend for our injured soldiers is truly remarkable and should be supported 100% to ensure these guys get the after treatment they have earned while serving queen and country.”
James added: “Customers are reacting well to the cause. In the past we have had collection tins for numerous charities at our till points but this one has shown more appeal due to the fact they get a wristband for the donation they make and a massive percentage of HGV drivers are ex-military so Help the Heroes is very close their hearts.
“The forecourt market is becoming harder and margins slimmer so I feel it’s reassuring to know that we still have time to raise money for the people that help provide our citizens with the freedom we sometimes take for granted.”
