Thieves who tried to break into a cash machine on a forecourt in Northamptonshire fled empty handed after damaging the device.

Sometime between 1am and 3am on Monday, October 5, thieves targeted the cash machine at the BP garage in Watling Street, Weedon, about seven miles west of Northampton.

They cut into the machine and ripped out some of the internal workings, but failed to get any money.

Despite failing to get any cash, the thieves, who were caught on CCTV cameras, caused a significant amount of damage to the machine.
