BP will be rolling out MasterCard PayPass contactless payments terminals across its forecourts in the UK over the next two years.
This means that consumers with MasterCard PayPass and Maestro PayPass enabled cards will be able to ‘Tap & Go’ to pay for everyday purchases up to the value of £15. All they have to do is tap their card on a PayPass terminal at the point of sale. They can also continue to use the same cards for higher value transactions, authenticated with a PIN.
Javier Perez, president of MasterCard Europe, said: “We’re delighted to be working with a household name like BP to grow the awareness and acceptance of contactless in three key markets, making consumers’ lives easier by enabling them to simply Tap & Go to make quick, convenient and secure purchases.”
The technology is also being rolled out in BP/Aral sites in Germany and Switzerland.
