BP is set to extend the waiting time allowed at its Gatwick airport site in West Sussex after angry motorists were issued with £150 fines for parking on the forecourt for longer than 20 minutes.

The drivers were so incensed that they were threatening to boycott the site, especially as Wild Bean Café advertising had actually encouraged them to stop for a break.

A BP spokeswoman said the oil company was reviewing the time limit with a view to extending it.
