Site will soon undergo a brand refresh; previous owner Westmorland is focussing on new M56 motorway services project

A forecourt just off the M1 between Luton and Hemel Hempstead has been acquired by EG On The Move from Westmorland, owners of Tebay Services.

EG On The Move describes the Watling Street Filling Station as “a high-traffic location serving both local residents and passing motorists”, and says its acquisition aligns with its “ongoing strategy to expand its high-quality roadside retail network”.

The forecourt’s current Esso livery will soon be replaced by EGOTM branding, though the shop will continue to feature a Spar fascia.

The site, on the A5183, sits beside the Watling Street Truck Stop, which Certas bought from Westmorland earlier in the year as the Gloucester Services firm focusses its attention on its forthcoming Tatton Services, due to open on the M56 south of Manchester in 2028.
