Euro Garages has opened the 1,800th Subway store in the UK and Ireland at its Eye Green Service Station in Peterborough.
The store, located on the A47 in Eye Green, Peterborough, is the 47th Subway store opened by Euro Garages. The fuel retailer, which is ranked third in the Forecourt Trader Top 50 Indies, is aiming to have invested in 100 Subway stores by 2016.
Ilyas Munshi, commercial director of Euro Garages, commented: “Reaching the 1,800 store milestone is clear demonstration of the popularity and more importantly, the acceptance of the Subway brand by the both franchisees and consumers.
“For ourselves, Subway is an important brand partner as we actively secure more locations and invest in our existing 180 forecourt estate across the UK.”
Mike Charest, assistant regional director for Subway Europe, said: “The opening of the 1,800th Subway store in the UK and Ireland is a huge achievement. In 2013, we opened 150 stores across the UK and Ireland. This fantastic level of growth is continuing this year, reflecting the strong entrepreneurial spirit of Subway franchisees and our corporate partners.
“We are constantly looking for new franchisees to open more stores around the UK and Ireland. The simple operations that are involved in running a Subway franchise and the convenient, portable product offers make it a perfect fit for a variety of locations. The Subway brand can be found in airports, universities, train stations, motorway service stations, convenience stores, shopping centre food courts and on the high street.”
Subway has opened 77 new locations in the UK and Ireland since the start of the year, and there are more than 350 Subway stores open in non-traditional locations, such as on forecourt sites and within convenience stores.
