Euro Garages plans to spend £6m to give a motorway services on the M61 a major overhaul after getting the green light from Chorley Borough Council. The Top 50 Indies retailer said it aimed to start work in the spring after gaining permission to refurbish the northbound and southbound areas of Bolton West Services.
The company added that plans still needed to be rubber-stamped by the Government Office for the North West due to the large amount of green belt land included in the proposals. But once final approval is granted, it wants to knock down the existing buildings and construct a more modern offering, including restaurants, a new forecourt, a c-store, games area, toilet, changing facilities and prayer room. Drivers Jonas has acted as planning consultants.
A Euro Garages spokeswoman said: “We have worked closely with the Council who have been supportive, and have reached a compromise on site design that all parties are happy with.”
