Motorway services firm Extra MSA has strengthened its relationship with chargepoint firm Ionity, announcing a further two dozen chargepoints have been installed at its Cambridge services on the A14, which is in effect an extension of the M11 motorway.
This latest expansion follows an installation that was recently unveiled at Extra MSA’s Cobham services on the M25, and a similar project at Peterborough Services on the A1(M).
Extra MSA says it also plans to install new Ionity chargers at Leeds Skelton Lake (M1), Blackburn (M65) and Baldock on the A (M).
The firm highlights it was the first motorway services operator to exceed government targets for installing chargers at MSAs.
Extra MSA’s chief executive, Tom Dobson, says Ionity’s chargers are “some of the highest-powered and most economical facilities available”, and that his company intends to lead the way “in creating an EV-friendly motorway network, which meets the needs of drivers both today and in future”.
Ionity’s UK and Ireland country manager, Andreas Atkins, says her firm has partnered with Extra MSA for “many years”, and the relationship “aligns with our commitment to more than double the number of publicly available stations and charging points in the UK for the third consecutive year.”
