A petrol tanker on fire at a Tesco forecourt has been successfully tackled by fire fighters in Somerset.
Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reported that they were called to the incident just after midday on Wednesday February 11.
Fire appliances from Shepton Mallet, Wells and Castle Cary were mobilised to a report of a petrol tanker rear axle on fire at the Tesco petrol station at Shepton Mallet.
The incident involved a petrol tanker carrying a full load. Its rear axle was smouldering and crews worked with a thermal image camera to monitor the temperature.
One compressed air foam jet and one safety jet were put in place as a precaution. Two hose reel jets were used to cool down the back axle of the lorry. The cause of the fire was reported to be accidental.
