A Tesco forecourt in Scotland has been closed due to flooding.

The petrol filling station at the Tesco superstore at Inshes, Inverness, is under several feet of water, after a nearby river burst its banks following two days of torrential rain.

The fire service is in attendance and has been working to make the scene safe and prevent further damage. It is believed the fuel tanks have not been affected.

On Wednesday a spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “We have been unable to use pumping equipment to clear the area as there is nowhere for the water to go, as the adjacent burn is too full.

“We will monitor the situation, and as soon as the water abates, we will be able to safely pump the flood water away later this afternoon.”
