A forecourt shop in Leicester has won an award at Bestway Wholesale’s annual Retail Development Awards for the third year running.
This year Kalpesh and Meeta Raja, who run the shop at Parker Drive Service Station in Beaumont Leys, were runners up for the best store in the entire northern region. Last year they won the prize for the best store in the northern region, and in 2013 they won the category award for beer and cider.
Meeta said: “I think what impresses the judges, is that we are constantly making an effort to improve the store.”
She also praised suppliers to the shop saying: “All the big suppliers like Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Red Bull have been very helpful in providing support and guidance on layout and ranging.”
Another forecourt operator, Kuperan Muragesu, was the Best-One national award winner, for Peva Petroleum, Runcorn.
Speaking at the awards, Bestway’s group chief executive, Zameer Choudrey said: “Tonight is where our customers take centre stage. These are retailers who chose to develop their own stores rather than worry about the competition and who attended the Bestway Retail Development Seminars, listened, learned and put into practice, strategies for growth that helped develop their businesses.
“This is their reward for the efforts they have put into their business; they are the driving force, they are the ones who make a tangible contribution to the communities they serve; they run the stores that their customers rely on morning, noon and night come rain, hail or shine. As their primary supplier we are delighted that through the RDA scheme and our dedicated branch network we have contributed to their success.”
