A string of awards were presented to forecourt retailers at last night’s Pro-Retail Show gala dinner, organised by Palmer and Harvey.

Steve Cunningham of Mace West End Filling Station won independent forecourt retailer of the year award; while the award for multiple forecourt retailer was won by North Road Filling Station, and presented to Mandy Ellis on behalf of the Roadside Group.

Darren Macdonald from Mace Red Tiles Service Station, was awarded symbol retailer of the year.

The Pro-Retail show, being held over two days at the Telford International Centre in Shropshire, features many of P&H’s retail initiatives – including a Mace-branded forecourt store; new food to go concepts; as well as help and advice from the company’s buyers and marketing managers in the focused chilled foods and alcohol category zones. There are also displays from many other key suppliers and manufacturers.

Retail advice is also on hand in presentations from Mary Portas, the straight-talking star of makeover TV and champion of independent retailing.

Richard Hayhoe, P&H maketing director said: “We know it’s a commitment for retailers to take time out from the shop floor, and we’re keen to add as much value as we can to the show floor for Pro-Retail visitors. The show is a great chance to meet suppliers and network with other retailers, and our initiatives have been planned to complement this by delivering insight and learning on product and consumer trends that visitors can take back an implement in their businesses.”
