A Texaco forecourt in Alderley Edge, Cheshire is launching a free attendant service.
Every Wednesday, between 1pm and 4pm, from next week, a forecourt attendant will be available to fill up cars with fuel, as well as check oil and water levels.
Owner Stephen Higham said the free service is being launched to particularly help senior citizens and those customers with mobility issues.
Stephen said: “I noticed an elderly lady on our forecourt struggling to open her bonnet, and it got me thinking. As we are in a residential area with a large percentage of older, retired people living here, I thought it would be good to offer them some help.
“We are going to try it and see how it goes – it really is a case of suck it and see. It won’t cost us much to do but it could be a very big help for these people.
“The attendant will serve fuel and check water and oil levels free of charge. They can also check tyre pressures, if asked. We have a shop so they could also help people by getting them a pint of milk, for example.”
