The getaway driver in a raid on a forecourt ATM has been jailed for two years.

The Chelmsford Weekly News reported that others involved in the raid at the Total Service Station in Sible Hedingham, Essex, removed the cash machine from a wall and caused an estimated £10,000-worth of damage. A petrol pump was also damaged, creating a fire risk.

The ATM, containing nearly £75,000, was found damaged but unopened in an abandoned van. The getaway driver, Ian Scott, admitted conspiracy to steal, driving while banned and having no insurance. He was jailed for two years and banned from driving for two years.

No other arrests have been made.
