Northern Irish forecourt brand Go is continuing to grow in Britain, with the firm planning a new unmanned forecourt for Manchester.
There are currently 26 Go sites in Northern Ireland, operating on both a manned and unmanned basis, while the company has five unmanned forecourts up and running in England, with four in the Liverpool area and one in Birkenhead.
The firm’s latest project, on Chester Road in Old Trafford, operated as a hand car wash since at least 2007, having ceased trading as a filling station some years prior.
Planning documents show LCC Properties and Investments, part of the same £1bn LCC Group that owns Go, has applied to Trafford Council seeking permission to dismantle the canopy and knock two “dilapidated” buildings on the site, rebuilding it as an unmanned filling station.
The proposed forecourt will feature eight pump islands fed by four underground tanks and serving 16 filling positions, together with an air/water/vac bay. An AdBlue tank will be housed in a compound with the vent stacks, while a small control building and storeroom will nestle in one corner of the site.
As well as Go forecourts, LCC operates coal processing, wholesale and importation businesses and a commercial gas and electricity company, while the firm co-owns an oil refinery on the River Foyle.
