Within weeks of relaunching the Gulf brand in Scotland, six dealers are retailing Gulf fuels and lubricants – with a further six expected to come on-stream before July.

The central belt of Scotland had historically been a Gulf heartland and the decision to target Scotland for expansion was seen as a natural progression.

Following Gulf’s return to Scotland, Barry Kerr has been appointed as Gulf’s retail area manager, dedicated to building the retail network across Scotland.

“We have been inundated with inquiries and many of these are of an extremely high calibre,” said Kerr. “We were aware that the Gulf brand was well respected in Scotland but we’re still taken aback by the sheer weight of response from dealers.”

One of the first dealers to sign up to the Gulf brand in Scotland has been Wilson Girvan, an independent operator from Pitlochry, with service stations at Fort Augustus and Aberfeldy. Both sites are now fully Gulf branded with a combined yearly fuel volume of about four million litres.

“For 18 years my Fort Augustus site was supplied by Shell so it is a big move for us to change suppliers but we know that moving to Gulf will be good for our business,” said Girvan.

“Gulf operates in a more personable and flexible way, carries a good name, and the livery looks fantastic. From the placing of our first order we realised that Gulf was much more customer focused than other suppliers.”
