Gulf Retail has appointed Karlos Ambrus as regional manager, Scotland. Ambrus, 45, from Falkirk, will be responsible for business development from The
Borders to the Highlands and brings to Gulf Retail a wealth of experience in petrol retailing. Ambrus joins Gulf from Thames Petroleum although his association with the Gulf brand in Scotland dates back to the ‘90s when he worked for Gulf Oil (Great Britain) Ltd during a highly successful period of retail expansion. By 1997, Gulf Oil enjoyed a 20% market share across the central belt of Scotland.
“It is my responsibility to ensure further business growth in Scotland,” confirms Ambrus. “These are exciting times at Gulf, the brand is well respected in Scotland and dealers know that the company will provide good service with a long term commitment. Gulf offers the full tool kit, providing a strong proposition to dealers, large and small, across the country.”
Keith Jewers, Director, Gulf Retail, is delighted to renew his acquaintance with Karlos: “It’s very good to have Karlos in the fold and further underlines our commitment to the dealer market in Scotland. He fits perfectly into Gulf; he knows the brand, has more than 15 years experience within fuel retailing, has successfully owned and operated his own filling station and understands the dealer market. He is an excellent acquisition for Gulf Retail and joins a team of experienced individuals that dealers respect and know they can work with for the long term future of their businesses.”
