Asda and Tesco have cut fuel prices today (Tuesday, September 30), following the move by Sainsbury’s to drop the price of unleaded petrol and diesel by up to 5ppl across its 294 forecourts. The cuts follow a drop in the wholesale price of crude, and a strengthening of the pound.

Avishai Moor, Sainsbury’s head of fuel, said: "Fuel is a big part of the weekly budget for many households, which is why we’re taking the lead and cutting the price of unleaded petrol and diesel by up to 5ppl. We always aim to offer our customers the very best value on everything we sell and our latest drop means that millions of motorists across the UK can save money when they fill up with Sainsbury’s.”

Tesco has also cut fuel prices by up to 5ppl, which is in addition to savings customers can make through Fuel Save, which can be worth up to 20p off a litre. Asda has cut 1ppl from petrol and 2ppl from diesel.
