The Petrol Retailers’ Association (PRA) has called for the government to put a freeze on fuel duty to cut prices on the forecourt. PRA director Ray Holloway said Gordon Brown could reduce fuel prices though a fuel tax reduction but was avoiding taking action.
Fuel distributor Samuel Cooke & Co has signed a new long-term supply agreement with Chevron. The oil company said Lancashire-based Samuel Cooke would supply Texaco-branded fuels and oils to commercial customers, including Texaco-branded retail sites.
Motorists are turning to cycling to beat the credit crunch. According to the AA, 18% of drivers cycle at least once a month. AA president Edmund King said: "With fuel prices so high, we expect to see more people getting on their bikes for some trips - though it is clear that topography, the weather, age and sex may play a major role."
