New site for Flogas

Flogas has opened a new 24-hour LPG service station in Leicester to replace its old site following soaring sales and long queues. The company has invested £130,000 to install two pumps at the Ravensbridge Drive forecourt, providing round-the-clock gas. Customers are also able to use credit cards at the pumps to speed things up. Flogas managing director, Henry Cubbon, said: "Our previous site opened only eight hours a day and we found that long queues were developing, with people getting agitated, so we decided we needed a bigger site."

Welcome back Amy

Amy Lanning has rejoined Forecourt Trader as deputy editor after five years away from the magazine. Following a three-year stint as features editor on Forecourt Trader from September 2002, Amy moved to sister publication Convenience Store magazine for three years, and subequently spent the past two years travelling and working in Indonesia as a scuba diving instructor.

Two more for Cardigan

Both the Sainsbury and Tesco supermarket chains have plans to open new forecourts in Cardigan, West Wales. Tesco wants to double the size of its store in the town and create a new petrol station. Apparently the retail giant has bought land near to the store at New Mill Road to provide the space for the forecourt. Meanwhile, a revised planning application has been lodged by Sainsbury’s, which includes a petrol station and a 40,000sq ft supermarket.
