Greene linked with bid
Oil company veteran Mike Greene is heading the proposed acquisition of about 150 of Morrisons’ M Local stores, according to press reports. Greene, who headed Jet’s retail offer and also worked with Shell and HIM, is said to be leading a team to launch a new convenience chain, backed by Greybull Capital, the private equity company which last year aborted a bid for the Murco UK business.
Noodle bar expansion
Applegreen has opened a Chopstix Noodle bar at its site at Jobstown, in the suburb of Tallaght, in the Republic of Ireland, taking the total on Applegreen sites to five. The opening means there are now 51 Chopstix Noodle Bars across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Search for drive-off pest
Staffordshire Police have issued CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with multiple thefts from a Tamworth petrol station. Between April and August there have been 11 incidents where a man has pulled into Sainsbury’s petrol station at Bitterscote Drive, dispensed fuel and driven off without offering payment.
Lottery extension
Camelot, operator of the National Lottery, will be providing retailers who have Scratchcard only terminals the opportunity to sell tickets for National Lottery draw-based games from early next year.
Car crashes into pump
A Premier League footballer crashed on a forecourt while over the drink-drive limit, it has been alleged. Everton midfielder Darron Gibson was bailed in relation to an incident on Sunday August 16 where police were called to reports that a car had collided with a cyclist on Park Road, Trafford, and failed to stop before pulling into a petrol station on nearby Dunham Road and colliding with a pump.
