Motorists are increasingly buying their fuel little and often, rather like the trend away from big shops at supermarkets in favour of top-up shopping, according to the latest report by him! research and consulting. In its Symbol Forecourt Focus, it reports increasing numbers of motorists are saying they are leaving refuelling to the last minute, they are putting smaller amounts in each time rather than filling up, and more motorists are comparing pump prices between forecourts.

Investment levels in the convenience sector have fallen by 35% over the past three months as retailers prepare for the introduction of the National Living Wage. Research by the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) shows that over the past three months, UK convenience stores invested £116m in their businesses compared with £177m in the previous quarter.
Greenergy appointment
Greenergy has announced the appointment of Andrew Cannell as the company’s new head of dealer and independent retail. The new role has been created in order to provide continued focus on growth and innovation for customers.
Cannell joined Greenergy as a territory manager in September 2014 when Greenergy became the fuel supplier to Esso dealerships nationally.
Robbery pair jailed
Two men have been jailed for taking part in an armed robbery at a Bradford petrol station. Kane Harrison and Anthony Davey pleaded guilty to conspiring with others unknown to steal from the Shell garage in Canal Road. Harrison, who also admitted assaulting a police officer with a baseball bat with intent to resist arrest was jailed for two years and Davey for 20 months.
