Newcomers to the forecourt sector have acquired the leasehold of their first forecourt Holmfirth Filling Station in West Yorkshire. The sale of the operation to local business owners Rehan Rana & Associates was handled by property adviser, Christie & Co. The forecourt is located along Huddersfield Road, a mile from Holmfirth town centre, and is a traditional roadside petrol station featuring fuel, a convenience store and a Post Office.
Fuel cost is less worry
Drivers are more concerned about the cost of car insurance than they are about expenditure on fuel, according to the RAC Report on Motoring 2016. Almost half (46%) of the 1,714 motorists surveyed for the report said their insurance costs have increased since last year with 8% listing insurance bills as their top motoring concern in 2016.
In contrast only 7% of drivers listed fuel prices as their top concern, down from 10% 12 months ago, and considerably down from 2014 when it was the top concern for 21%.
Car smash in MRH shop
A car has crashed through the front window of the forecourt shop on an Esso-branded MRH site at Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, narrowly missing a mother and her baby. Witnesses described how a blue Ford Fiesta, driven by an elderly woman, came crashing through the front of the forecourt shop, smashing the glass door and windows.
Esso tiger dies
A tiger which featured in Esso adverts during the 1990s has died aged 22.
Tango was made famous when he was one of seven tigers who featured in Esso’s ’put a tiger in your tank’ TV adverts. Since 2014 he has been living at Woodside Wildlife Park in Lincolnshire where he passed away.
