Applegreen grew its overall estate by 99 sites to 342 sites in the year to December 31, 2017, and added 77 new food outlets over the same period, its annual results show.
The company reported revenue up 21% on the previous year to 1,428.1m, and adjusted EBITDA increased by 24% to 39.8m. It also said it had continued investment in the development of the network with capital expenditure for the year of 113.0m.

Top 50 Indie Motor Fuel Group (MFG) has been ranked second in a league table of Britain’s 100 private companies with the fastest-growing profits in the 19th annual Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100. The league table ranks companies according to growth in profits over the last three years of available accounts.

A Hull shopkeeper, who was caught with more than one million illicit cigarettes stashed in self-storage containers, has been jailed for five years. Aras Rasul Rashid was caught when sniffer dogs detected the haul of illicit goods during a joint operation between HMRC and Border Force at a self-storage container site in Hull, in 2015.

Wiltshire Police are investigating after cigarettes were stolen during a break-in at a Top 50 Indie petrol station in Marlborough. The incident happened at the Fraser Budgens, in Hertford Road, on March 23 when the culprits unsuccessfully tried to force entry to a side door. They then threw two large bins through the front window, climbed inside, and forced open a cabinet, stealing an unknown quantity of cigarettes.
new car sales down again
New car sales again took a hit in March with sales of diesel vehicles the biggest casualty as overall registrations fell by 15.7% compared with the same month last year, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Sales of pure electric vehicles were also down. The SMMT figures reveal that new car registrations have fallen for the 12th consecutive month.
