Gridserve has announced plans to build a UK-wide network of more than 100 Electric Forecourts designed specifically for the needs of electric vehicle (EV) drivers, delivering convenient, ultra-fast, low-cost charging for all types of EVs. Gridserve’s £1bn programme involves the company building new solar farms to supply the forecourts, and installing multi-megawatt batteries to provide grid services that support the rapid uptake of EVs and additional renewable energy capacity.
applegreen revenue up
Applegreen plc has announced that group revenue increased by 41% to 2bn for the year ended December 31, 2018. Adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) increased by 46% to 58.1m in 2018.
MSA public consultation
Plans to develop a £50m-plus motorway service area at Junction 11 of the M62 are being put out to public consultation by Extra MSA Group. The proposed services will include a petrol station, food court, retail and leisure units with 700 parking spaces.
taverham gulf sale
Christie & Co has completed on the sale of Taverham Gulf Petrol Filling Station, in Norfolk, approximately five miles from Norwich, to an experienced local operator. Taverham Gulf provides four pumps, a convenience store and parking for up to 12 cars.
track and trace codes
HM Revenue and Customs has confirmed that small retailers will be able to start applying for tobacco track and trace codes from April 30, just three weeks before the introduction of the regulations on May 20. Retailers must apply to the government appointed ID issuer, De La Rue.
blowtorch used on forecourt
Thieves are believed to have used a blowtorch on a forecourt in a bid to steal from an ATM. The incident took place on March 22 at Silsden Self Service Station, in West Yorkshire. Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
